The Artistic Process

Three phases in creating a tapestry...



(Left) After spinning my own yarn, I then dye it using purely natural ingredients, such as indigo, blueberries, or birch bark. These are a few spools of such yarn, hanging out on the line to dry.
(Center) This is the entrance to my art studio, which my husband and I built some 10 years ago.

(Below) This is my workspace, where I do the majority of my weaving.
(Above) This is the steel loom that I use to weave my tapestries, with the warp yet to be fully attached.
(Right) This is the beginning of Song of The Ocean. The yarn hanging in front of the tapestry is woven through the white warp that can be seen extending vertically. Behind the warp is the painting that I use to guide my weaving.
